Join us for a potluck dinner to raise funds and awareness for CareConnect through the Peace Meal Project!

When: Saturday, November 12 at 6pm 

The Peace Meal Project is a grassroots organization located in Boulder who host potluck dinner parties and group outings to bring people together for socializing as well as to raise awareness and funds for charity. Each of the gatherings benefits a charitable cause to assist organizations that promote a peaceful existence for the people of their communities and the world

Legendary Longmont Business: Bay Window Catering (Steve Eisler)
Bay Window Catering received multiple nominations based on their commitment to donating time, services, and food to so many organizations and nonprofits in the community – including CareConnect! Steve has been donating his delicious food to local nonprofits for over 36 years, and he never says no!

Legendary Longmont Community Personality: Officer Bobby Garcia
Bobby has worked at the Longmont Police Department for over 20 years and was a DARE Officer, School Resource Officer and has helped so many people by just being himself. Everyone knows Officer Bobby and now the kids he helped are having their own children who he continually supports. Bobby never misses a sporting event and gives the kids that extra care that they may not have anywhere else. Bobby's impact on the Longmont Community has absolutely made this a better place to live.

Legendary Longmont Volunteer: Kathleen Norris
Kathleen received multiple nominations for her many volunteer commitments. She has volunteered with The OUR Center, Intercambio, the Longmont Public Library, El Comite, Community Food Share and many other Longmont agencies. She is a "take charge" volunteer who operates with the utmost integrity and deep compassion. She is super organized and is able to manage any complex project flawlessly. Besides she has a strong sense of duty but always works with others with a wonderful sense of humor. In addition she helps in several other community projects that support integration, embracing inclusion.

Legendary Longmont Seniors: Ernie Clark and Thelma Horton
Ernie and Thelma are both residents at The Longmont Regent. Ernie is 104 years old and he is a great nominee for being a Longmont Legend because of his age, and how well he remembers every aspect of his life and others around him. He has been here longer than almost anyone else in town.
Thelma is 98 years old, about to celebrate her 99th birthday. Thelma is quite the character with her crazy outfits and outgoing attitude she has a way of making anybody laugh. She will always participate in anything she can get her hands on and is a wonderful part of the community.

CareConnect Honors Longmont Legends!


On Saturday, September 24, CareConnect honored five local legends that make Longmont a great place to live! The first annual Longmont Legends Awards were presented to Steve Eisler of Bay Window Catering (Legendary Longmont Business), Officer Bobby Garcia (Legendary Longmont Community Personality), Kathleen Norris (Legendary Longmont Volunteer), Ernie Clark and Thelma Horton (Legendary Longmont Seniors).

CareConnect received many wonderful nominations and would also like to honor and thank our nominees for their ongoing commitment to the community. Longmont Legends Award nominees were: Dale Bruning, David Costello, Crackpots, Max Fuller, The Lehman Family, The Longmont Regent Independent Living, Fran McCarty, Mountain States Children’s Home, The Pumphouse (Dennis Coombs), Bob Norris, Edwina Salazar, Jaimie Williams and Garry Wullschleger.

Caring for Colorado Awards CareConnect $20,000

Caring for Colorado Foundation has awarded CareConnect $20,000 to support the Medical Mobility program. Medical Mobility provides access to direct health services for seniors, adults with disabilities and chronically ill through the efforts of dedicated volunteer drivers.

Support from Caring for Colorado will help increase the capacity of this growing program. By July 31, 2012 CareConnect volunteers will provide 5,000 medical rides for over 350 Boulder County residents. This grant will also allow CareConnect to increase its volunteer recruitment efforts to meet the need for affordable escorted medical transportation.

The Caring for Colorado Foundation
is a health grantmaker making health and accessible health care more of a reality for people in Colorado every day through targeted grants that provide measurable health improvements. Awarded grants build health care capacity, strengthen existing health care systems and link people to care.
